The Woodmark at Steel Lake (located at Federal Way, Washington) borders Steel Lake Park, a popular city park featuring a spring-fed lake and more than 50 acres of lush greenery. Ideally located for inspired living with convenient access to numerous amenities, residents of The Woodmark can take a leisurely stroll, watch a ball game or picnic by the lake. Steel Lake is just minutes from Puget Sound, downtown shopping, area restaurants, the post office, banks, movie theaters, nearby medical centers, and St. Francis Hospital, run by Franciscan Health Systems and named one of the Top 100 performing health care networks in the nation.
Exceptional Assisted Living and Memory Care
Providing Exceptional Assisted Living and Memory Care is more than just a slogan. The Woodmark is licensed and monitored by the Washington Department of Health Services. Only caregivers certified for the highest level of assisted living (Directed Care) are employed by The Woodmark at Steel Lake. Accommodations at The Woodmark are rented on a month-to-month basis. No buy-in is required. The Aid & Attendance Veterans Pension Program is honored at The Woodmark.
Assisted Living – Services and Amenities
Over three acres of lush landscaped grounds frame the beautiful Assisted Living residence. Amenities include: Elegant dining room, intimate private dining room to entertain your family and friends, family room/media center, 24-hour beverage and snack bar, well-stocked library, fitness center, computer center, activity center including kitchen and game room, billiards room, enclosed courtyard, and beauty/barber salon.
The Assisted Living program provides services in a manner that protects and supports choice and privacy and tailors care to individual needs. Residents can enjoy participating in a variety of planned activities at The Woodmark that nurture physical ability, intellectual interests, social pursuits and spiritual needs. All services are designed to help maintain independence, preserve individual dignity, and encourage engagement in life.
Assisted Living Monthly Rent Includes:
- Dining experiences daily including breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with beverages and nutritious complimentary snacks available throughout the day
- Weekly housekeeping (including linens and towels)
- All utilities including basic cable TV (except telephones)
- Scheduled transportation to activities and Doctors appointments
- Emergency call system
- Licensed nurses, medical technicians, and caregivers available 24 hours
Person Centered Care Services:
The Woodmark at Steel Lake is licensed by the State of Washington to provide assistance with the activities of daily living. These services are in addition to monthly rent and are based upon an assessment of individual health needs and preferences, and also the residents Primary Care Physician report. Medication assistance, personal care and grooming, and escorting are some of the considerations applied.
Unique Monarch Memory Assistance Program
The question often arises: What options are available for the person who needs more structure than that provided by a traditional assisted living program, but is not ready for a typical Alzheimer’s residence? Now there is an answer.
The newest addition to The Woodmark’s innovative program, the Monarch Memory Assistance, provides a unique approach for residents with mild memory loss. The care for those residents needs a special perspective. The right environment and a structured, activity-based program can reduce confusion and anxiety, restoring confidence with a focus on each individual’s strengths.
The Monarch Memory Assistance Residence provides comfort in apartments for couples, as well as individuals. The structural features of this area provide needed security and amenities to enhance the lives of Monarch residents while supporting their independence. A specialized staff, including the Director, interacts with residents on an on-going basis to give support and direction, to assist residents with maintaining a healthy diet, exercising, and participating in music and art therapy.
Features of the gracious, yet functional living area include: dining area, activity room, and television lounge.
Fee Structure: A monthly base rent includes medication administration and cuing reminders. If required, an additional monthly fee will be added for bathing, dressing and grooming. Individuals requiring more services may find the program they need at The Woodmark Memory Care S.P.A. (Specialized Personal Attention).
Woodmark’s Memory Care Specialized Personal Attention S.P.A.
The word “S.P.A.” represents our provision of Specialized Personal Attention to our residents and provides care for dementia and memory care residents. Our Relaxation Therapist is skilled in aromatherapy, sensory stimulation, manicures and pedicures for the purpose of relaxing and pampering our residents.
The area is purpose-built for dementia care and is designed to be warm, calm, predictable and secure. Twenty-eight companion suites provide comfortable private areas. Licensed nurses, certified caregivers, and a program director oversee the program.
The Memory Care community offers a program specializing in the care of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias. Such dementias might include those resulting from Parkinson’s disease, stroke, and brain injury.
In addition, we also offer a beautiful Spa for our residents where our Relaxation Specialist provides an atmosphere of tranquility, quiet time, aromatherapy, and massage.
Family Education and Support is a priority. We offer family support opportunities through Alzheimer’s Support Meetings, Peer Counseling, and Educational Materials through our Memory Care library.
Our full-time Activity Director is also a vital part of this program. Residents enjoy utilizing the resident kitchen to stimulate memories of traditional tasks to a supervised exercise program. Enhancing the lives of our residents is always our goal.
Important features that make our community special include: a secure outdoor area (for walking, gardening, or just a breath of fresh air), two dining areas (one for specialized needs), an aviary, large activity room, intimate lounges, beauty/barber shop, workshop, spa room and more.
Fee Structure: Levels of care are based on individual assessments.

- Housekeeping (including linens and towels and one load of personal laundry)
- Social activities and live entertainment
- Relaxation specialist providing aromatherapy and massage
- Licensed nurses, medical technicians and caregivers available 24 hours
Temporary/Respite Stays
For recuperation, rehabilitation, or peace of mind for a family caregiver, furnished accommodations are provided on a space-available basis in all Woodmark areas.

- Recreational – Our Departmental Theme Team plans monthly themes for parties and a calendar for active lifestyle. Our themes are celebrated through our menu, entertainment, outings, décor, special events, social gatherings, and education. Sample activities include:
